Finding Myself Again: The Birth of Wit & Wisdom Creations
At 47, I realized I had lost sight of who I was. Somewhere along the way, I had become exactly what everyone else needed me to be, without a clue of what brought me joy—other than the rare luxury of uninterrupted sleep! After 20 years as an executive working with global brands, I found myself no longer fueled by the drive that once got me out of bed. Four different companies in six years. That’s what it took to recognize that I wasn’t fulfilled. I needed something more—a purpose that resonated deeply within me.
The thought of stepping away from a secure career was terrifying. I had a family to support, responsibilities, and a high-profile resume that seemed to define me. Yet staying where I was felt like a betrayal of my own spirit—a cycle of wasted energy and missed opportunities.
There’s a saying: “God will disrupt your entire life just to get your attention.” That disruption happened for me. It was a moment of clarity that shook me to my core, and, in the silence that followed, I heard the unmistakable message: it was time to step out in faith.
I left the corporate world behind, and in that space of uncertainty and faith, Wit & Wisdom Creations was born.
I had always dabbled in creating custom wood pieces—little expressions of artistry that I never imagined would be anything more than a hobby. But something changed when I saw how these simple creations sparked joy in others. The first time a customer sent me a picture of my work in their home, expressing how it brought them joy or started a meaningful conversation, I felt a spark within me ignite. That’s when I knew I had found my true passion.
Wit & Wisdom is more than just handmade decor; it’s my heart and soul carved into wood. Each piece is a reminder that life’s journey can be celebrated with humor and faith, both of which have sustained me through my highs and lows. Every sign I craft, every ornament I shape, carries a piece of my story—a story of stepping out from what was expected of me and into a purpose that’s authentic and true.
I don’t know exactly where this path will lead, but I’m grateful to be walking it. My hope is that these small tokens of wit and wisdom bring light, laughter, and meaning into the lives of others.
There’s a quote that resonates deeply with me now:
"Procrastination is the arrogant assumption that God owes you another opportunity to do what you had time to do."
That hits differently these days. Because sometimes, all it takes is one brave step toward your passion to create an impact that can last a lifetime.
So, here I am—no longer defined by titles or expectations, but simply doing what I love and hoping it inspires a smile or two along the way.
With love,
Chioke
